The story unfolds on land, sea, and air. RAF Spitfires engage the enemy in the skies above the Channel, trying to protect the defenseless men below. Meanwhile, hundreds of small boats manned by both military and civilians are mounting a desperate rescue effort, risking their lives in a race against time to save even a fraction of their army.

Considered as a 'miracle', this decisive moment in the Second World War is said to have 'shaped our world'. As these soldiers lived to fight another day during WWII.

Still today, Dunkirk is a symbol of hope, unity, and resistance.

According to Nolan, 'DUNKIRK' is less a war movie and more a 'survival' movie. Driven by suspense, the viewer will be immersed in the experience of a flight for survival and will feel the immediate intensity of the experience of war.
