CHAPPAQUIDDICK tells the story of the Kennedy who got away.

• Chappaquiddick Island, Massachusetts, July 18, 1969. The Kennedy Scandal.

On July 18, 1969, Sen. Ted Kennedy (Jason Clarke) drives his car off of a bridge on Massachusetts' Chappaquiddick Island. The accident results in the death of passenger Mary Jo Kopechne, (Kate Mara) a 28-year-old campaign strategist who worked for the Kennedys.

In the days following the event, the presidential front-runner is under fire for fleeing the crash site and waiting ten hours before reporting the accident.

• The curse of family legacy and a web of lies that altered the course of US political history...

The incident not only killed an aspiring political strategist and Kennedy insider, but it also changed the course of presidential history and showed the power of the Kennedy family.

The circumstances surrounding what happened having been swirled in controversy for nearly 50 years, but there is still no question that the car ended up overturned in shallow water with Kopechne trapped inside and Kennedy waited 10 hours to report the accident.

CHAPPAQUIDDICK is an enthralling tale of the political zeitgeist and will ensure this chapter won't just be left to the history books.
